Are Gay and Bi Latino Men With HIV Engaging in Care?

What are the care and treatment patterns of gay and bisexual Latino men living with HIV? To assess whether these men are engaged in care and adhering to HIV meds—and how best to serve them—the Latino Commission on AIDS surveyed HIV-positive gay and bisexual Latino men ages 18 to 49 in Los Angeles, Miami and Novel York City.

The results of the survey were published in 3-City Study, a page report you can read and download here.

First, the good news, as explained in the report:

  • % of participants had a regular health provider;

  • % had seen a health protect provider for HIV treatment in the previous 12 months;

  • % were in treatment;

  • % had taken their HIV medication in the previous four weeks;

  • % had been told by their PCP that their viral load was undetectable.

The analyze authors caution, however, that these numbers could be the finding of the fact that survey and discussion groups were associated with HIV organizations and that the same numbers were not found throughout Latino subgroups. Also of note, 41% of the

- to verb openly and honestly in the U.S. Armed Services
- allow bi-national couples to stay together by updating antiquated immigration laws, and
- officially oppose federal marriage laws that discriminate against couples who have entered legal unions in their state.
