Gay Men's Hiking Group

This is our first time hiking in the Adirondacks and I'm really eager to introduce the group to this area. It's some of the best hiking in the Northeast; with pine forests, transparent running streams and rocky mountains. I reserved a cabin in the heart of the Lofty Peaks. It's a mile stroll from the trailhead, but it's a popular area with other lodges nearby, so we won't be totally isolated. The hiking will be more challenging than anything we've done before. If you are a regular with this group you should be ok, as long as you aren't somebody who usually hikes at the back of the line up. It's going to be incredible!

THE CABIN
We're staying at Camp Peggy O'Brien, neighboring the Adirondack Mountain Club's John's Brook Lodge. It sleeps 12, has heat and a propane stove. Bunks and mattresses are provided, but you need to bring your own sleeping bag. Water is from a pump outside. The bathroom is an outhouse. I put some pics in the photo section on Meetup. Here's the link, you have to scroll down for Camp Peggy O'Brien.

Gay Walking Groups In The UK

3. Mountain Walks and Winter Mountain Walks

These are more strenuous, and will typically take a full day. There will be several hundreds of meters of ascent and descent, and the terrain and conditions will normally be more challenging, and the weather can have a much greater impact on the event. The group size will be smaller to reflect the more challenging conditions. You will need to have more equipment to accept part. If you already enjoy hiking in mountainous terrain, these walks may be ideal for you.

Mountain walks are often, but not always, found as part of OutdoorLads hostel weekends, simply because the more remote locations can take too much moment to get to for them to be practical as daytime walks, especially on shorter winter days.

OutdoorLads runs Mountain Walking events all over the UK where there are mountains. Areas such as the Lake District, Snowdonia, and the Scottish Highlands.

Winter Mountain Walks are the most challenging, as you can expect there to be snow and ice and the conditions will be much tougher. As a res

Outdoorsy LGBTQ+

This group is for anyone with any level of outdoor experience who wants to see other LGBTQ+* folks while enjoying our beautiful state!

Due to the increase in Meetup fees (annual groups are now $ to run), as of 4/1/24, I am requesting a $2 contribution from participants who can afford it (donation is not required to participate and no one will be turned away). Funds go toward the cost of hosting the group. Cash or venmo is preferred.

The majority of our events are focused on hiking, but other outdoor/indoor activities are offered such as climbing, walking, running, bird watching, etc. We also sometimes head indoors for social events. We want to offer a variety of ways for people to meet others and make community.

The point of our hikes are NOT to get to the summit as quickly as adj. We do want to retain a steady pace, but more importantly enjoy nature and each other’s company, take photos, pet dogs that pass us on the trail, and hopefully craft new friends! We want members to socialize and often proceed out to a brewery for post hiking food and drink.
