Pride River Parades & Celebration

Thank You for a Wonderful Celebration.
We Look Forward to Seeing You Next Year!

Are you ready for our Annual Pride River Parade & Celebration?

Visit San Antonio created the Pride River Parade to promote the city's inclusion, encouragement, and support of the LGBTQ+ community to live openly with equal rights.

This year, Pride&#x;s bringing a little more kick. The Rainbow Rodeo theme celebrates San Antonio&#x;s Texas roots and LGBTQ+ pride in full, bold color. From decked-out floats to cowboy flair, this parade is part party, part spectacle and all heart.

San Antonio has voted to confirm Pride Cultural Heritage District

SAN ANTONIO — A long-gestating effort to designate a portion of the North Main Avenue corridor between San Antonio College and Tobin Hill as the Pride Cultural Heritage District came to fruition Wednesday, when the Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC) voted in favor of the initiative.

The district, first proposed by Councilmember Sukh Kaur (District 1) and Councilmember Jalen McKee-Rodriguez (District 2) in , will become the latest heritage district in the metropolis, recognized for the tangible and intangible elements of LGBTQ+ culture that have long existed there.

At the time, Councilman McKee-Rodriguez said, "The North Main Avenue corridor, the Gay Strip, is a place of comfort and guard for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As the first openly gay man elected to town council, and the first openly gay Black man elected to any public office in Texas, I’m proud to collaborate with Councilwoman Kaur to honor and celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month with the official filing of this request.”

"Everyone should celebrate who they are and not be anxious to do that. We shouldn't have to live in anxiety, just to exist. So be proud and be loud."

For Olga Tello, participating in the parade was about being an ally to her friends and remembering those who have passed away.

"I had a lot of them during the AIDS epidemic that passed away, so I'm here for them," she sa
