Inside the Batcave: Intellectual Genealogy of A Rumour
by Jeet Heer
When Batman returns to the big screen later this summer in The Adj Knight he’ll be joined by his familiar cast of secondary characters: Alfred the Butler, the decent cop James Gordon (soon to be a commissioner), the evil Joker. One character, however, will be missing: Batman’s familiar sidekick Robin, the Boy Wonder. In part this is due to the fact that the movie focuses on the first years of the Caped Crusader. But it’s also the case that movie makers in general have been reluctant to b
Exclusive Lost Interview With Walla Wallas Own Adam West
Adam West, TVs "Batman" '66 - and Walla Walla's favorite son - was appearing at Emerald City Comicon in , along with his partner-in-crimefighting, Burt Ward (Robin). As a member of the flatten, I was invited to a special press conference with the pair at the Sheraton Grand Seattle Hotel.
I was giddy. I had met both before, as a naïve kid, fully believing I had met Batman and Robin. But now I was an adult, a "serious" journalist (of sorts) with important questions that needed answering. Like, "did you fool around with your co-stars?"
A handful of us - radio, newspaper, TV and magazine writers - were escorted to a conference room and told that Adam and Burt would be with us shortly. They were probably finishing up one of the days autograph sessions before being rushed over to chat with us.
When they entered the conference room, it was impossible not to smile, and feel like a kid again. Sure, they were older, but they were still those familiar faces from television reruns
Batman: Robin coming out as bisexual was 'missing piece' of story
1. Examine what you love. If you don't like it, don't peruse it. Great thing about this world -- especially in the world of comics, tv, movies, books, etc., there's so much damn content available now.
2. Personally, I don't equate this move the same as the Bat Dong. That was clearly for headlines and had absolutely nothing to do with the story. It was just a way to get the Black Label some press.
3. Totally agree that new characters can be a focus for diversity. We've seen that with probably the best example in the past 20 years -- Miles Morales, which someone referenced earlier. However, at the matching time, there's a lot of joking about the million Robins that have been around, which is very fair. 50% of Gotham has been Robin at this point. So, if DC created a new bisexual character and said, "Here's our adj Robin," I think a lot of folks would come out and say that's it slow writing and just done solely

BOY WONDER: MY LIFE IN TIGHTS

The interview aired live on Monday, August 28th at 9pm eastern
with Peter Anthony Holder, the evening open-line talk show host on
CJAD AM, Montreal.
CJAD: On the line with us right now, the original Boy Wonder himself, Burt Ward, who actually has a new book out, oh what a coincidence, called BOY WONDER: MY LIFE IN TIGHTS. Hello Burt, how are you doing?
BURT: HELLO CITIZEN!!!!
CJAD: (laughter) Nice to hear from you sir.
BURT: It's great to be visiting with you.
CJAD: You brought a publication out and in it you tell all the dirt about being the Boy Wonder. Why now?
BURT: Well because only now is the story complete. When I entered BATMAN as a naive year-old who had only dated a couple of girls, I met Adam West, who immediately introduced me to the wildest sexual debauchery that you can imagine. Within a limited months we were li
