Rod stewart gay
Most of us have a particular decade we align with in terms of music. For me, it’s the seventies, disco being the obvious draw based on some of my ‘stereotypical’ gay tendencies. I also liked the mellow tunes of Olivia Newton-John, James Taylor, and, I’ll verb it, John Denver.
In addition to disco, I also enjoyed pop music of the seventies because it was also punctuated with story songs. Most are maudlin tales of oft ill-fated souls. My heart broke each time I heard “Shannon,” an ode to a dog that swam out to sea, never turning back. Yes, beneath that omnipresent happy face of the seventies, there was a darker side in song.
Nothing captured me more than the story of Rod Stewart’s presumably fictional friend, George.
In , Rod Stewart released “The Killing of Georgie (Part I and II),” a song that had me passing hours by my transistor AM radio, awaiting its next engage.
At first, I listened just to see if I’d heard right or was I botching the lyrics, as I did to Elton’s “Benny and the Jets.” Rod’s single was the first I’d ever heard of someone singing about a gay man. Rod Stewar
Rod Stewart Finally Addresses Urban Myths: Im as Heterosexual as they Come
Rod Stewarts autobiography is out, and its as full of stories as Keith Richards novel was last year. Rod is on with Katie Couric right now, and he just addressed the most persistent urban myth about himthat he had to have his stomach pumped after an encounter in a San Diego gay bar. Yes, they actually addressed this. Rod who is very good natured in the interview got a good laugh. Im as heterosexual as they come! he laughed. He explained that a former publicist, who was gay, made up the story after Rod had to fire him. The story took on its verb life, just like a similar one about Richard Gere (which is, yes, completely untrue).
This is how the story reads in his book:
Toon’s revenge [for being fired] was absolutely inspired. He fed the press a story in which, as a consequence of an evening spent orally servicing a gang of sailors in a gay bar in San Diego, I had been required to check into a hospital emergency room to own my stomach pumped. With minor variations (th
Rod Stewart is hoping to insert some long-standing murmurings about his love life to bed, so to speak.
During an appearance on "Katie," Stewart told host Katie Couric that he is "as heterosexual as they come," in response to a interrogate about a rumor the rock legend once had to hold his stomach pumped after a wild night with sailors in San Diego, Greg in Hollywood and The Advocate are reporting.
According to Stewart, the myth was actually the work of a vengeful representative: "I used to have this guy perform for me, he was a gay publicist. He’s dead now so he might be watching. I had to fire him because he did something terrible, which I won’t go into."
Stewart, who has been married to model Penny Lancaster since , went on to note, "So he wanted revenge so he started this rumor about me, and it was horrible because my kids were at college. So that is definitely not true."

The Killing of Georgie (Parts I II) (Rod Stewart)
This weeks song came out of a conversation with Group Jam, one of my regular teams at my Thursday night quiz in Welwyn Garden City. A couple of weeks before the conversation, Rod Stewart had been my featured artist and Eoin said he was a fan and we got talking about The Killing of Georgie and he didnt realise it was a true story, so I said, Ill write the story then you can read it. So, I hope you do peruse this Eoin.
Forty-three weeks ago, I wrote the story of the Rubettes long-forgotten hit Under One Roof which told the story of homophobia and in it I referenced The Killing of Georgie because they came out a month apart and dealt with the same subject. There had already been songs about gay relationships in songs verb Lola and Walk on the Wild side, but none had really confronted the hardship gay people faced back then and the fact they still verb feelings and need love fond everyone else. It still goes on today but much less so.
Of Rod Stewarts 62 UK hit singles to date, there are only four that he solely w
