As the only country in East Asia that has legalized same-sex marriage, Taiwan is the friendliest and most progressive place for gay romances to thrive. Any Taiwanese BL series already feels happier by default, simply because I know the couples can enjoy a stable long-term future together with a legitimate status. The cultural significance of Taiwanese BL dramas means so much to me, and I'm delighted that this genre is on the rise in the country.
